| Introduction to Powder Cores for Power Chokes | |
| POWDER
CORES To give a "soft saturation" effect, where the inductance under bias gradually rolls-off, powder cores are made from high saturation ferromagnetic alloys with an inbuilt distributed airgap. This powdering process also reduces eddy current losses in the metallic alloys used. Close tolerance permeabilities of up to 350 are achieved. |

| Sendust cores
for power & emc The most recently developed low loss material, particularly suitable for cost conscious design as switching frequencies above 100kHz become widely used. This material contains no nickel and is the lowest cost high performance core option. Low acoustic noise. |
Audio mixers Audio amplifiers dc-dc convertors SMPSU output chokes Active pfc chokes emc chokes |
| MPP toroids
for power & emc MPP cores have been the industry standard for many years for high stability, low loss inductors. |
Telephone line filters Feedthrough filters High-Q filters |
| Hi-flux
toroids for power & emc Hi-flux cores are widely used where high on-load inductance is needed, and some increase in core loss can be accepted. Particularly suitable for inductors to carry high current bias, with ripple current to about 50-100kHz. |

| Iron powder
cores for emc Toroids and E cores with permeabilities of 60, 75 and 85 for low cost differential-mode filters, light dimmers and passive pfc chokes. |
Light dimmers Motor drives SMPSU and UPS |
| Iron powder
cores for powercon Toroids and E cores with permeabilities of 33,35 and 75. Predictable hold-up of inductance with dc and ac bias. |
