Chokes for power conversion

High frequency, low acoustic noise power chokes

All of these high frequency power choke ranges are based on Sendust powder cores. Sendust cores are a recent innovation, with energy storage capabilities similar to iron powder, but with significantly lower high frequency core losses.
These lower losses allow the chokes to be used at higher ripple current frequencies, with a corresponding increase in throughput power.
A significant advantage for chokes used in audio amplifier circuits is that Sendust toroids have a low magnetostriction, resulting in low acoustic noise.

High frequency ranges

WK range

High frequency chokes for frequencies two or three times higher than equivalent iron powder cored ranges. Used for compact high frequency SMPSU output chokes and series-mode emc chokes.

WKP range

PFC power factor correction chokes, similar to the WK range but with inductances optimised for pfc chokes operating at 100kHz+. Single-layer windings are mainly used to minimise choke self-capacitance in this higher frequency range. Higher current chokes have two single layer windings, to be connected in parallel, to give the required current handling capability with low self-capacitance.

WSS range

Low profile chokes. Single layer windings are used, to give low cost and low self-capacitance.
